Newtown Nursery Rhyme Challenge

Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they're four years old, they're usually among the best readers by the time they're eight. -          Mem Fox, Reading Magic.

Are you ready for the challenge?

Over the next three weeks we will be learning 5 new nursery rhymes, and we need your help!

Below are links to all of the songs we will be learning. We would love for you to listen to them at home with your family, so that you know them really well.

The more rhymes you know, the better you will be at reading when you are older. So try to learn as many as you can.

Here are the rhymes we will be learning:

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star  -

The Big Ship Sails -
