The best interests and welfare of children are at the forefront of all that we offer. Our provision is non-discriminatory, accessible and sensitive to race, gender, religion, culture, language, disability, sexuality and differing patterns of family life.

These values underpin our practice:

- Children learn through play and deserve a happy, friendly and safe environment in  which to do this in. 

- We strive for our children to 'understand what is right, what is wrong, and why' -    EYFS Guidelines

- We are responsive to each child's need for time and space to express themselves, so they are able to experiment and make sense of the world they live in. 

- Each child's learning is supported everyday by routines which encourage independence, confidence and self-esteem.

- We provide opportunities for children to work individually, in small groups and as part of a large group. 

- Children develop respect for themselves and each other. This is supported through    everyday activities - listening, sharing and taking turns.

- Positive relationships and behaviour are modelled throughout the Nursery School.

- Early childhood experiences are vitally important in shaping children's futures.

- Our school principles are incorporated into all aspects of the curriculum, staff training and school policies. 

- We value all children and families equally and strive to create a learning environment for all children, where they have opportunities to share, explore and celebrate a rich variety of cultural diversity, free of prejudice and discrimination.

- We follow equal opportunities guidance which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar.

At Newtown Nursery School we respect all of our children and families. We seek to promote equality and diversity through a framework of British values which are defined as: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and the mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We are committed to serving our community and recognise the multi-cultural, multi faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom.  We understand the vital role we have in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.
